Biography
is a piano and harpsichord player from Italy . He started to play piano when he was 8 and he graduated at the age of 20 in the Conservatory “V. Bellini” of Caltanissetta ( Italy ) with his first teacher, Sebastiano Cannizzo. Then he decided to dedicate himself to the study of ancient keyboards, including organ and harpsichord, taking his doctoral degree in harpsichord with Maria Pia Jacoboni at the Conservatory “A. Boito” of Parma ( Italy ). He also studied in the same Conservatory composition with Giorgio Tosi and electronic music with Marco Biscarini and Francesco Giomi. He later attended a two-year specialization course in harpsichord and basso continuo with prof. Francesco Baroni. Thought all this experiences he specialized himself in the repertoires of baroque and pre-classical music. He attended masterclasses with Corrado Ratto and Bruno Canino (piano) and Enrico Baiano, Bob van Asperen, Michele Barchi and Emilia Fadini (harpsichord). Essential for his musical education was the course “Ars et Labor”, a high level course for piano and chamber music, where he knew Christa Bützberger and Marina Rossi in Vicenza ( Italy ); in this period he came in contact with the phenomenology as philosophical doctrine applied to the music. Thanks to these teachers he deepened the study of keyboard technical aspects considered in the light of the correct consciousness of the movements of the body. Moreover, he acquired the fundamental importance of the educational aspect, in order to develop musical skills and self-control, leaving untouched the sensitivity and encouraging the independence and open-mindedness. He completed his education graduating in Musicology ( University of Pavia - Italy ), integrating his performance knowledge with theoretical and historical musical aspects. He worked as assistant lecturer for musical analysis and counterpoint courses at the University of Musicology in Pavia , and he studied and catalogued the “Fondo Laura Alvini”, a musical library at the Conservatory of Parma. He usually collaborates with orchestras for realizing and transcribing music scores; he is working on publishing works of the Italian baroque composers Mortaro, Ferronati and Marino, and he also cooperates with “Centro Studi Opera Omnia Luigi Boccherini” ( Lucca – Italy ) to publish Luigi Boccherini works. His repertoire ranges from baroque to modern music. He performed many recitals as soloist or in orchestra for important institutions in Europe and Asia ; he is a member of different ensembles and chamber music groups. Regularly, he plays basso continuo with harpsichord and organ. He also dedicates himself to the modern composition using computers and audio technologies. He is currently a full-time instructor of the Department of Music Performance at Assumption University of Thailand.
