Biography

 He studied composition, sonology and architecture at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago and composition and classical guitar at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. He received his degree in 1983.

He has been a member of various ensembles, among others BARROCO ANDINO, AMANKAY and HOKETUS (from 1979 until 1986).

Since 1981 he has been a member, interpreter and composer/arranger of the chilean ensemble QUILAPAYUN in Paris. Today he is their musical director. With Quilapayún he has given concerts all over the world and received the Special Award of the Organization of American States (OAS) in 1994 in Washington and the Order of Gabriela Mistral from the democratic Chilean government at the Chilean embassy in Paris in 1995.
He is a member of LOOS since 1992, touring in Europe, North and South America and member of the electric guitar quartet CATCH.

As an interpreter of contemporary music (guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, mandoline, banjo, panflute) he colaborates regularly with different european ensembles: Ensemble Intercontemporain in France; Asko&Schoenberg Ensemble, Concertgebouw Orkest, Ebony Band, Radio Philharmonisch Orkest, Radio Kamer Orkest among others, in Holland; Ensemble Modern and Musik Fabrik in Germany.
