Biography

After classical studies, I have studied Harmony and Counterpoint under the guide of Giancarlo Facchinetti at the Music Conservatory in Brescia and then I graduated in Composition at the Parma Conservatory under the guide of the composer and teacher Antonio Giacometti. I also graduated in Jazz at the Brescia Conservatory under the guide of Marcello Tonolo, Attilio Zanchi, Roberto Bonati and Corrado Guarino. I have been selected to attend seminars and masterclasses given by Franco Donatoni, György Ligeti, James MacMillan. In Jan 2000 I met in Amsterdam Louis Andriessen, determinative for my musical growth; and in May of the same year I won the 2nd prize in the International Contest of Composition “2 Agosto” in Bologna with the piece UMORE for sax soprano and orchestra, performed by Claude Delangle with the Orchestra Sinfonica A. Toscanini of Parma conducted by Marcello Rota and broadcasted by Raitre (Italy). I have had a lot of commissions from many musicians and institutions in Italy and abroad, and my works have been performed in several national and international Festivals in Italy and abroad, like Gioventù Musicale d’Italia, the Perugia International Harp Meeting, ppIANISSIMO International Festival, Sulle Ali del Novecento, Arcana Composers Meeting, Guggenheim Foundation of Venice, the Festival “Scintille di Musica”, The Concerts of Triennale di Milano. the festival “Novecento: i sentieri ritrovati e i nuovi percorsi”, Bergamo Musica Festival, International Festival of Contemporary Music “Nuovi Spazi Musicali” in Rome. Since 2005 I am a member of the Società Italiana di Musica Contemporanea (SIMC), Italian section of ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music). In the same year my piece TRIWATT has been selected by SIMC to take part to the ISCM International Festival “GRENZENLOS” in Stuttgart (Germany). In July 2007 my piece ANGELES Y DEMONIOS, written for Trio Contempo of Paris, has been published in a CD produced by the same Trio. In the same 2007 the melologue OPODELDOK  has been recorded in a CD, produced by SIMC, which will be published in 2008. For the years 2009/2010 I have received commission from the visual artist Albano Morandi, Diego and Fabio Gordi Duo, Isidoro Capitanio Symphonic Band of Brescia, Duo Novecembalo from Parma, Antares Trio, the Italian poet Alessandro Bottelli and the Italian trumpet player Aldo Epis. I’m preparing a CD with some compositions of mine, that will be published within the end of 2010 by Galatina Records in Venice. I regularly cooperate with musical magazine “Brescia Musica” and the online magazine “Gruppo 2009”, for which I have written articles on Iannis Xenakis, Steve Reich, Fats Waller, György Ligeti, Elliott Carter, Olivier Messiaen, Louis Andriessen, Gideon Klein, Milan Kundera.
